Then: a cross-framework hackathon where both groups build the same feature, side by side.

WHO IS IT FOR?

You know PrestaShop, but you've always been curious about Sylius. Or the other way around.

This day is for developers with hands-on experience in at least one of the two platforms, with a solid PHP/Symfony foundation. 

You'll spend the morning in the unfamiliar one, and the afternoon building alongside people from both worlds.


PROGRAM OF THE DAY WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH

Morning : Get (un)comfortable

A practical introduction to Sylius, and PrestaShop, focused on the concepts needed to build real extensions and plugins. 

The workshop will cover the core foundations of both Sylius and PrestaShop, including their architecture, Sylius’s Symfony-based design and PrestaShop’s adoption of it, key building blocks like Resource and Grid systems, as well as how to customize and extend each platform. It will also introduce the mindset needed to build features in a Sylius-native way.

  • Sylius workshop for PrestaShop developers

Afternoon : Build it both ways

The hackathon will bring participants into two parallel teams, each building a similar feature in Sylius and PrestaShop. 

The task is scoped for the day, but realistic enough to feel like actual product work.

The goal is to show how quickly developers can become productive in a new framework: after a short introduction, they immediately apply what they’ve learned to build something working in practice.

Beyond coding, the format is designed to highlight the differences between the two ecosystems, including architecture, extensibility, development workflows, and community practices, through direct, hands-on comparison.
